Wow, February 2009 came and went like a dream, last time i left off we were going to Nebraska. Tiffany and I made the trip up there on Feb 4th, left after work and drove half way and drove the rest of the way the next morning. It was good to be back in NE. Got to see family, watch Jaime play basketball, see some old friends from high school, and just hang out with relatives. My mom fed us like we were kings and queens while we were there with all kind of delicious meals from the mintue we got there to the second we left. We had enchiladas and tamales the first two days in a row for every meal, and never got tired of them. We also had some empanadas and brought a bunch home with us. Jaime is pretty good at basketball, he's starting as a sophmore for the Varsity team, and the day we got there we saw one of his games that night, it was a tournament, but they had to win that night in order to advance and Jaime's team lost by only 1 point. It was a bummer, Jaime hit a 3 pointer with like 10 seconds left in the game and crowd went crazy, and they had another chance to tie with another 3 pointer but could only make a two point shot and thats how the game ended. But that meant we got to spend more time with Jaime since he wasn't playing the rest of the weekend. He's taller than i am already. He got his license the 20th of February so now he's driving. I remember the days when i was only 16, seems like it was only yesterday. The rest of the month was filled with working, church, and some financial planning, we are going through a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class at church and it is totally transforming our lives in the way we spend money and how we think about money, its great and we totally recommend it. There is a saying that D. R. says, "right now we are living like no one else, so later we can live like no one else." Period. And i actually vowed not to buy any clothing this whole year of 2009, which is going to be hard, but I would rather pay myself than spend the money. Keep me accountable.
Happy New Year 2017!

Wow good for you guys! Carrie and Jason went through that series of Dave Ramsey's too and really liked it. I'd like to go through it just for the investing and insurance parts since we've got the debt part taken care of. Hang in there! It's hard saying no to yourself and living differently but the reward of being debt free is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteWow just the picture of those empanadas omg wow. Yea Dave Ramsey is the man I like the way he things, I haven't gone through any of his classes, but i listen to his show often and have seen snippits of his trainings and I understand the concept. It is very hard though! Good luck man.
